UE over ADU 99-72

forgetable 1st half from us buti nlng we were hitting from 3. Sumang varilla galanza and company made one big run in the 3rd then rr deleon and jumao-as finished in the 4th.

these were the 2 easiest games of the 1st rnd. the next games will be the real test starting with dlsu next sunday

yup..

acid test ang game against dlsu..

these 2 big wins are reminescent of the 2007 14-0 season..

Good luck sa team against the Green Archers come sunday.

Gigil na gigil yan manalo.

The team needs to be consistent in both offense and defense.

Let Olayon guard Teng, Jumao-as on Vosotros and do a 2-3 zone to neutralize the bigs of the Archers.

I want to see a De Leon - Mammie - Javier front court vs a Perkins/Andrada- AVO - Torres combination.

This is going to be an acid test for the team.

Go Fight Red and White!

Was about to post the same thing. let's hope they win against NU on wednesday to shake off some of the gigil haha Very Happy

With thomas torres injured, we can expose their inexperienced pgs in montalbo and mustre (maybe even bolick). we should go hard at these guys -- sayang they could have used a -- de la paz or tampus but they didn't max out their lineup. sumang can start his road to the mvp this game Smile

Pester vosotros all day --- jumao-as varilla olayon and the gang.

I think they would go more to Perkins this game rather than Teng. (I hope not) haha

Sure marked man na si galanza neto. expect tratter/sargent to stay close all game. Lets hope our shooting continues to sizzle.

We need all our bigs in this game.

can't wait!

we have a good start this season. its been a while since we won our first 2 games, especially with great margin. but even with those 2 wins we still have not seen the true capability of the team this year. cant wait to see more of them.

here are few things that i have noticed

1. Sumang has embraced his new role as "court general". He is more of a facilitator this year rather as a first option scorer

2. Mammie has matured. He is more patient this time around. He is letting the game come to him rather being too aggressive

3. Balance minutes for first and second unit.

4. A lot of break out players are waiting to be unlished namely; Gino Jumao-as, Gallanza, Paul Varilla, Arafat and Dan Alberto

next game will be against DLSU, lets see how they will play against the defending champions

Sa Sunday malalaman natin kung nakanino ba ang loyalty ng mga Pumarens since both of them also coached DLSU way back.

going in to sundays game, i still believe we got the upper hand. The transition game of UE has improved immensely since coach Derrick took over. And we have scoring options from all positions from 1st and 2nd unit. DLSU on the other hand is starting to get their groove back. Their bigs will be still their main option. luckily we have a bigger line up this year.

expect Gino Jumao-as and Paul Varilla to have big contributions. and AVO vs Mammie will put up a show

The Archers show us we can bleed (UE vs DLSU Jul 27, 2014)

A lot of us were so excited to see this game to check out the full capability of the team. I bet alot of us assumed that we would have a 3-0 record after (including my self) but we were mistaken. TheWarriors played hard with heart all through-out the game but still it was not good enough to get the W.

Here is what I have observed

Our biggest problem thus far is our TURNOVERS
-currently we are the number 1 defensive team. We force a lot of turnovers that translates to points but we need to take care of the ball a lot better.

Too many 1 on 1 plays
-especially during the last minutes of the game, the team settled on isolation plays. There were few ball movements and off the ball movements.

Limited points in the paint
-here we need to credit the great interior defense of DLSU. Passing lanes were shutoff in the middle. Immediate double team to arafat or mammie when the receive the ball. They only allow passes near the 3 point area.

Low shooting percentage
-we shot the ball poorly today compared to our first 2 games. With this, DLSU was confident not to extend their defense because we are not converting our out side shots. If had shot better, it would have opened the defense in the paint for our bigs.

We might have perfected our defense and we can execute it all game long but we need to be more consistent on the offensive end. Im sure coach Derrick and the Warriors know what to do to get better.

Warriors fall but we get up even better and stronger! Go UE!

Basketball UAAP Rookie Prince Rivero earns spurs as error-prone Green Archers frustrate UE Warriors with gritty fightback From: Reuben Terrado July 27, 2014, 06:58 pm Share it! 1341 98 0 1 Rookie Prince Rivero earns spurs as error-prone Green Archers frustrate UE Warriors with gritty fightback Rookie Prince Rivero scored eight points in the fourth quarter as La Salle pulled off a come-from-behind win over the Red Warriors. Jaime Campos PRINCE Rivero scored eight points including two critical baskets down the stretch as De La Salle survived a slew of turnovers to beat University of the East, 60-58, on Sunday in the UAAP Season 77 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena. Rivero sank the go-ahead three-point play for La Salle with 2:13 to play before giving the Green Archers a 60-56 lead with another basket, again off a feed by Jeron Teng, at the final 44.1-second mark to hand the Red Warriors their first loss in the season. The Green Archers managed to survive despite falling behind by 10 points at the end of the third quarter, committing 32 of their 36 turnovers in the first three periods, and losing big men Arnold Van Opstal and Jason Perkins on fouls down the stretch. “We were lucky to pull this off after committing 36 turnovers,” La Salle coach Juno Sauler said in what should be the understatement of the season so far. Teng had 18 points while Torres added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Green Archers, who improved to 2-2 win-loss but still lie in sixth place in the standings. Almond Vosotros had 12 points. But the story in the end was Rivero, the former NCAA MVP who stepped up after the Green Archers lost Perkins and Van Opstal one after the other on fouls, scoring all of his points in the fourth quarter. “We needed Prince because of Arnold and Jason fouling out,” said Sauler. It was a disappointing loss for the Red Warriors (3-1), who led 46-36 at the end of the third quarter behind Derrick Pumaren's trademark trapping defense which threw La Salle off its rhythm all afternoon. Roi Sumang had 16 points for the Red Warriors, but his drive to the basket with a chance to send the game into overtime missed the rim completely. The scores: DLSU (60) – Teng 18, N. Torres 14, Vosotros 12, Rivero 8, Van Opstal 5, Perkins 2, Tratter 1, Montalbo 0, Andrada 0, Bolick 0. UE (58) – Sumang 16, Varilla 8, Mammie 8, Olayon 7, Galanza 5, Jumao-as 4, Alberto 4, Arafat 3, Javier 2, De Leon 1. Quarterscores: 12-14; 26-28; 36-46; 60-58.
