Re: 2012-2013 Off-Season Updates
Mammie a no-show in UE Warriors' Filoil Cup bow
By Reuben Terrado
April 18, 2013, 10:16 am
CHARLES Mammie failed to suit up for University of the East in its debut game in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup Wednesday, sparking speculations he may have been meted out a disciplinary action by the school.
Coach Boyzie Zamar didn't give a clear answer when asked on why the player from Sierra Leone was a no-show, but hinted at possible disciplinary action.
“This is a student-athlete league,” Zamar said moments after the Red Warriors defeated Southwestern University on Wednesday. “There is no exception to disciplinary action. We have rules.”
“It’s personal,” Zamar curtly replied when asked to elaborate.
But the coach pointed out Mammie is still part of the team, but remained non-committal on when he will be playing.
“Let’s see,” Zamar said.
Mammie was a transferee from Arellano and is expected to boost the Red Warriors’ frontline.
Despite Mammie’s absence, the Warriors beat the Cobras, 81-62.

Ouch! pero mas maganda na teamwork now, naguusap na mga players lagi on the court unlike last year.

Re: 2012-2013 Off-Season Updates
Malamang pero of course hnd naman ididivulge ng coaching staff reason for the sake of the whole team but if magppakabait lang si mammie, title contender na UE. I won't be suprised if matambakan ng UE ang ateneo by more than 10 pts. I will be surprised instead if UE ang matalo. Ateneo is only dependent on ravena, pessumal and newsome.

Re: 2012-2013 Off-Season Updates
Kailangan bantayan ng UE si Newsome, another scoring option to aside from Ravena.
Nakita ko to maglaro sa Fr. Martin's dati. Halimaw, nag alley-oop dunk in your face kay Hernandez yata yun.
Text text saturn.

Re: 2012-2013 Off-Season Updates
Sorry icemint kung di ko mabigay cp # ko hehe but tomorrow I will be at the Arena. Hehehe.
Ravena pounded Letran daw and made a whopping 33 points in the game. Newsome must also be guarded for he is fond of making alley-oop dunks and showtimes in games. Kailangan di maka-turnover ang Ateneo kundi mahihirapan ang UE. Let's wish the Warriors good luck tomorrow. UE can beat Ateneo.

Gino Jumao-as is such a revelation. Explosive! Attack mode palagi.

Ateneo coach Bo Perasol has high praise for Sumang, UE
By Mark Giongco
Philippine Daily Inquirer
4:11 am | Thursday, April 25th, 2013
MANILA, Philippines—Over and over, Kiefer Ravena kept saying how University of the East could be such a tough team to beat this year.
And after Ateneo had to scrape past UE, 77-72, when the two teams tangled for the first time in the FilOil tournament, even Blue Eagles coach Bo Perasol got to rave about the much-improved Red Warriors Wednesday night.
“I think they have one of the most complete lineups,” Perasol told INQUIRER.net moments after his squad chalked up its fifth win in six games.
“It’s just matter of time before they can get their bearings together and I know they’re going to be stronger when the UAAP comes,” added Perasol. “We have to be prepared for them.”
Indeed, the Red Warriors lived up to their billing as one of the teams to watch out for by giving the ‘five-peat’ UAAP champion, which trailed by as much as eight in the third quarter, all it could handle.
As usual, playmaker Roy Sumang, though he struggled, still ended up with a team-high 18 points, led the way for UE but unlike before where Sumang was just a one-man show, the Red Warriors also got production from their other players.
“I think he is really one of the best point guards in the UAAP and I don’t think anybody can underestimate or cannot be prepared for UE and for Sumang as well,” said Perasol, who added that they (coaching staff) specifically prepared a defensive game plan to contain Sumang.
Perasol also said that he stumbled upon an article that read Ateneo had lost two in a row to UE [last UAAP Season] that eventually had the former PBA mentor using it as extra motivation coming into the game.
“I posed a challenge to them…I told them that I have yet to remember Ateneo losing three games in a row to any team.”
The Blue Eagles, led by Ravena and sharp-shooting Von Pessumal, who came off the bench to deliver 19 big points on five-of-seven shooting from deep, responded to the call.
“Actually before the game sabi ng mga leaders namin sila Kiefer that UE will be a tough team to beat, we all know that the top teams are going to be there UST, NU, La Salle and UE is going to be a contender also in their own little way,” said Pessumal, who has shown so far this preseason that he can be an additional weapon in the backcourt.
Ravena, who scored a game-high 23 points, said, “It was an ugly win but panalo pa rin so we have to take it. Pero we have to keep in mind na hindi pa ‘to UAAP but this is a gauge on where we are right now. During the last game, coach said UAAP teams yung gauge kung nasaan man kami. I think it’s a good sign na after this game we know where we are right now.”

He kept on repeating that until Kiefer turned his head on the UE side. After that, he struggled in getting the ball inside the basket. Hehehe.

Injured si Pessumal ah. Makabalik pa kaya siya for ADMU games? Without him mas kaya ng Warriors ang Ateneo.
