number #8. University of the East Red Warriors
Predicted record: 0-14

It looks like it will be UE’s turn to churn out an undesirable zero-win record this season. There’s just not enough firepower in the roster to beat the other seven teams. The exodus of Paul Lee and Ken Acibar, both Mythical Five members last year, left a humungous hole in the Red Warriors’ overall production. The team added two former San Beda Red Cubs in Chris Javier and Von Chavez but they aren’t exactly in the caliber of the two exited superstars. New coach Jerry Codinera has his work cut out for him as he centers his squad on senior guard Paul Zamar, who is more of a complimentary player than a main man. It will be a long season for UE but the team has no choice but to ride it out.

Sadly, not much will change this season, with Aljon Mariano sidelined by injury and sophomore Ed Daqcuioag nursing a heart-related illness. Add to that the surprise departure of sweet-shooting Clark Bautista due to academic ineligibility which further compounds the woes of coach Pido Jarencio.Aside from three greenhorns in Cameroonian center Karim Abdul, reigning UAAP Juniors MVP Kevin Ferrer, and former NCAA Juniors MVP Louie Vigil, no other player seems ready to make an immediate impact. UST will tally some wins but will fall short of the semis anew.

d naman natin masasabi kung anu manyayari eh, bilog ang bola. tsaka kaya ng team yan, magugulat na lang sila sa makikita nilang laro from red warriors. halos sa lahat naman ng season, makikita natin na maganda ang mga ipinakita ng UE. kaya yan.

Hindi lahat ng nababasa totoo. Hindi din lahat ng pinopost on-line ay dapat pinapaniwalaan. Ang dapat lang natin paniwalaan ay ang UE red warriors, Manalo o matalo sumuporta tayo.

We have to think that these past few years, ang team natin naglalaro ng walang legit threat na center.

Nung panahon ni James Yap, si Butel, Canaleta, Masbang, and Estrada. Meron tayo, si Paolo Napo pero alam nyo na kung anu nangyari sa kanya.

Hindi sila naging dominante. Ang mga guards at forward natin ang mga nagdadala sa team.

Nung time ni Dindo, si Raymundo na yata ang pinakasentro natin.

Nung 2007, nakapasok tayo sa finals nang walang legit center.

Hopefully this season, bigyan natin ng leeway ang team. Unang una, the team is rebuilding with 7 rookies. Wag na sana sa bibig ng kapwa UEnians tayo makarinig ng mga discouraging words para sa kapalaran natin sa UAAP. Alam natin ang reality, pero sana tayo mismo ang sumuporta sa team.

Mas kailangan nila ang suporta, hindi lang pag nanalo, kahit natatalo kailangan nila tayo.

UE coach Jerry Codiñera has high hopes for a Final Four finish after the Red Warriors wound up sixth with a 6-8 record last year.

“Our goal is to land in the Final Four,” said the rookie mentor who takes over from Lawrence Chongson. “We will continue to pursue UE’s championship tradition, with 18 titles so far, including seven in a row. I’m prudent in my forecast on teams to beat. We prepared our team to go against the best and I’m very certain that our boys are ready.”

Codiñera’s coaching staff lists Billy Reyes, Allan Caidic and surprisingly, Robert Jaworski.

“We don’t have a particular style of play,” he went on. “Our boys are trained to react to ball-game situations at hand. One thing is evident, our players will never back down, cringe or duck from a hard game. We’re a young team with seven rookies and nine veterans. Our key players are composed mostly of our veterans like Paul Zamar, Biboy Enguio, Adrian Santos and Lucas Tagarda. We’re very proud of our rookies who trained hard and are determined to provide first-rate support to our veterans.”
