University of the East demolished host Malaysia, 85-67 to finish third in the recently concluded 8th Asian University Basketball Championships at the Bintulu Municipal Stadium in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Paul Zamar, the son of former UE coach and Red Warrior David, scored 20 points and fired two three-pointers in the third quarter that started UE’s breakaway.

Adrian Santos, Benjamin Zosa and John Michael Noble added 18, 11 and 10 each for the Red Warriors, who avenged their elimination round loss to the Malaysians.

China’s Guangdong University crushed National Taiwan University of Arts, 95-66, in the finals.

Twins Ren Jun Fei and Ren Jun Wei teamed up with 6-foot-9 Li Yuan Yu and 6-foot-11 Da Lai Wu in scoring a total of 53 points to lead the Chinese in their dominating performance against the Taiwanese. – JVP, GMA News

This is my personal evaluation based on the tune up game yesterday (Thanks to everyone nga pala)

TEAM - generally speaking we are a bit smaller compared to the like of FEU, ADU, NU, ADMU (don't have idea about the UST), But based on my assessment kayang maki pag sabayan.. Need lang talaga mag step up.. siguro 3 or 4 step ahead nila: NOBLE, DURAN, SANTOS para naman may makuhang support si JAVIER. Kitang kita na hilaw na hilaw pa talaga ang team charisma among the players.. yung first five lang ang solid, Other than that pag nag experiment na ng mixes si Coach nawawala na ang play.

COACH - It is good to see coach Jerry Calm and Collected all through out the game, But I give credit to his assistant coach (yung sigaw ng sigaw) kasi nakikita ko yung dedication niya sa work as an asst. coach, He really pushed the players to do more than just playing... yon naman talaga ang kailangan sa isang coaching staff..and off course I like his attitude (yung asst. coach) of saying "kaya natin to.. we will surpirise them". I believed in him kasi siyempre alam niya ang potential ng team since they been working together for almost 5 or 6 months now..

Individual Players

Zamar - Showed the leadership, lalo na nung crucial period na siguro yung team mates niya.. the never give up attitude is there and Kudos to that.. He should bring it up sa UAAP wars.. First round palang dapat makita na ang bangis ng Warriors.

NOBLE - May pagka bakaw.. may sariling understanding sa team play..kahit hirap na hirap pinipilit ang tira.. 3 years nb siya sa team? sana magkaroon ng adjustment sa play niya. OK yung effort kaya lang kung gusto natin mgakaroon ng maayos na play dapat matotoo siyang i maximize yung 24 seconds. tulungan niya yung team na maka pag set up ng maayos ng play. Need more maturity.

DURAN - Madaling mag init ang ulo, may konting attitude problem, perhaps na spoiled ng previous coach, pero it's not too late to adjust. Madaling nasisira ang play pag napapagalitan ng coaching staff. As what coach Jerry told the coys after the game, dapat alam niya kung ano ang specific role niya during the playing time.

SUMANG - Oh my.... what else can I say??? the Brilliant future of UE Basketball.. another superstar in the making....Height nalang ang kulang para maging potential NBA Player.. sana madala niya ang game A niya sa UAAP wars.

CASAJEROS - I don't know kung ano ang specific plan ni coach for him, considering his skills based on last season, malaki din ang potential ng batang ito.. kaya nga lang di masyado nakita yung game niya kahapon. sana yung 3 points shooting skills niya plus yung ala tubid game niya ang ipakita niya this UAAP season.

SUMINOG - Great improvement! lumakas na ang kumpiyansa sa sarili kaya lang mahinhin pa rin.. sana ma ka pag adjust pa ng konti..

TAGARDA - Nice look, naging intimadating yung presence niya sa court unlike nung previous season na halos walang sumeryoso sa kanya kasi bukod sa maliit na inconsistent ang play. At least ngaun lumaki ng konti ang katawan.

JAVIER - Very much promising one.. Kudos sa team manager for getting him in.. konting hasa lang and for sure magiging bakulaw to sa ilalaim in a year or two from now.

BELLEZA - I must admit na "Over-hyped" ata masyado yung pagiging part niya ng team.. wala masayadong contribution and puro porma lang....sana mali ako and makita natin na he really deserved it.

MONTELEBANO - Ang Guwapo niya talaga!!! but on top of it, talagang may play din ang bata.... siguro confident na siya na guwapo siya kaya wala na siyangh pakialam sa kung ano ang tingin sa kanya.. instead he focus on playing (siyempre iba na pag nasa araneta sila at nagtitilian na sa kanya ang fans). Ang galing ng effort na nakikipag buno para sa bola.. kaya lang baka mabasag ang mukha niya sayang naman. he he he he he.. The self confidence is there, plus may play din.. I bet na malaking tulong din siya sa team.

Tribemates pardon me kung masyadong harsh ang observation ko, but this is just based on a one tune up game, baka yung iba sa inyo napanood na ang team sa previous tune up games nila and mas maganda yung analysis niyo that's better..... But rest assured that my honest intention of bringing it out to come up with some suggestions para sa ika bubuti ng team.. so ano pa... SUGOD na tayo sa ARANETA on Thursday..

Ok ang review mo bro, yan ang tinatawag na "constructive criticism". Yung iba kasi anu-ano sinasabing comment pag may kumontra ididisguised bilang "constructive criticism" lols.

But I have to agree and disagree with you bro in your some points.

Unang-una bro its Sumido hehe. Tama ka! Ang laki ng improvement nito, from "kuliglig value" daw nagevolve nya sya sa isang firefly! Sya ang isa sa magbibigay ng liwanag sa ue! He can shoots the light out at any given game basta mabigyan lang ng time para uminit.

May mga shooter na kailangan muna uminit para shumoot ng sunod sunod. Hindi yung isa o dalawang mintis ilalabas mo na kagad. Bro, this guy showed glimpses that he can slash inside. Sana mailabas na talaga full potential nitong batang to.

Casajeros, ok talaga to. May depensa at opensa. Pero mas gusto ko yung swagger nya sa court may angas. Hindi magpapa-intimidate sa kalaban.Gusto ko sya for his defense. Sana sya ang ilagay kay Ravena the whole time na nasa floor si Ravena.

Montelibano. Yung mga games na nakikita ko na naglaro sya, makikita mo yung effort na nakikipagsabayan sya. Pero sana maimprove yung speed nya, medyo slow-mo maglaro to.

Noble, ok na ang improvement nito, minsan nga lang may tendency na magbakaw at turnover-prone lalo na pag dribble na ng dribble. Pero malaking tulong sya kay Javier together with Duran para sa gangrebounding.

Belleza, wala naman akong narinig na hype dito. Ang nakita ko lang nung Fr. Martin's eh shooter sya. Galing tong injury bro baka kaya medyo di pa maganda nakita mo. Yung iiilan lang ang naghhype dito.

Javier! Eto ang isa sa magiging legitimate threat inside in two to three years time. Gusto ko yung attitude nya. Yung willing matuto at sumunod sa instructions ng Coach. Ok yun. Hindi lang naman ang skills ang magdadala sayo pati yung willingness mo to learn and to listen. In short yung attitude towards your teammates and your coach.

Sumang. Well this guy certainly lives up to his hype. Eto ang tawag ko sa kanya "Derrick Rose ng UAAP". Same skills, same moves, same pumorma pati yung kneepads hehe. Minsan nga lang gigil na gigil magdrive kahit di na kaya minsan dinideretso pa. And minsan he is too fast for his own good. Pero he is going to be a one helluva player.

Guys support lang sa team. Kailangan nila tayo sa laban nila. Wag na tyao manghinayang sa mga "what-could-have-beens and who-could-have-beens" ng team. It's useless. Pag nawala o hindi tinanggap sa team, wag na ipamukha sa mga fans kung ano at sino yung mga nawala sa team(at bakit nawala o bakit tinanggal). At the end ang nagmamatter naman ay sino yung "nakapasok sa team". Sila ang kailangan suportahan. No crying over-spilled milk.

Im hoping for a decent performance para sa team kahit 4th place lang I'll be happy.

Kung sina James Yap nga nag3rd at 4th places finishes lang eh ang lalakas ng batch na yun. What more do we expect this batch of rookies and not-so-veteran veterans?

Yung ibang online pala, maglogin kayo sa chatbox, mag hi and hello lang kayo, baka nakatsamba kayo na may nakalogin dindun, sayang yung chatbox, nilagay yun para makapaginteract sa mga kapwa online.

nakaka impress naman ang ginawa ng warriors sa tune up game nila kahapon, i will give credit to chris javier. Super dedicated talaga sya sa paglalaro. Kay erwin duran naman, medyo bawasan niya ang init ng ulo kasi hindi makakatulong sa team yun. Sumang is so AMAZING.... isa syang superman. kaliit liit na tao kung lumusob akala mo higante. that's the warriors spirit. LABAN KUNG LABAN!

please continue supporting our beloved team... they need us in every game in UAAP.
next week, the PE Dept. will start teaching the students how to cheer in Araneta and Philsports Arena. GO UE!
