UE Red Warriors MBT - Season 74 Updates

talagang parang hirap na hirap tayu eh! UP palang yun hah
panu na ung iba! sana naman makahugot ng magandang [play s coach jerry dahil sa nakita ko kanina walang ka play play ang team.

Here's my 1st game analysis sa mga nakita kong laro at attitude ng mga players ng red warriors kanina:

1. Malakas ang Team natin this year at IPUPUSTA KO kahit ano na hindi tayo mangungulelat this season, INFACT we have a lot of potential na makasama sa FINAL four.

2. Madami tayong key players, but we loss NOT because we don't have a GO TO GUY, we loss because of rookie mistakes which is: SO MANY TURN OVERS! Im looking forward for us to minimize turn overs..OMG ang turn overs ng team!Kung below 14 turn overs tayo per game, I'm preety sure na WIN ang kalalabasan..

3. Defense minister coach & great domination on boards, NATUWA ako sa Rebounding ability natin, as in we REALLY DOMINATE the BOARDS. Grabbing MOST of the rebounds & I would say we OUTREBOUNDED the UP coz malakas tayo sa REBOUNDING DEPARTMENT.

4. I'm not HAPPY with the way they guard the outside shooting of gamboa, since I watched the 1st ever PBA d leauge this year,na ka-team-mate ni pareng James Martinez si gamboa sa junior Powerade & I was SHOCKED why they didnt respect the offense of this guy. TAKE A NOTE that If a player made at least 2 consecutive 3 point baskets, definitely hihigpitan mo na ang depensa dun & as much as possible CONTEST every shot he made. Pero NABIGO ako dun..Ang LUWAG ng DEPENSA..as in nakataas lang ang kamay ng mga guards natin & di man lang tumalon to block d shot or contest his shots.

5. The PHASING Of the game, UE Red Warriors are known for our fast phase games.Fastbreak plays & quick scoring plays, Full court press & Zone defense. Manaka-naka lng ang nakita kong fastbreak kanina, madalas pa inuubos nila ang oras to make a play, well it wont work kung cla ang naghahabol..Zone defense na "TILA NAWALA", UE is the number one on forcing turn overs & hindi ako sanay na tayo ang madaming turn overs..I'm looking forward to have a quick phase game coz dun tayo makakascore, sa fastbreak & hindi naguubos ng oras..gagamitin mo lang ang oras pag ikaw ang lamang when closing out games..

6. READING THE PASSING LANES- Great defense will result to a great offense, We need a lot of focus on reading the passing lanes. Interception sa bawat pasa ng kalaban ay kailangan! Parang malamya e..AS IN we need the KILLER INSTICT para LAMUNIN ang kalaban..Be aggresive all the time..

7. SHY TYPE-Hindi ko alam kung nahihiya bang tumira,nagkakahiyaan or WALANG TIWALA sa sarili..We have a lot of gunners pero imbes na itira..pinapasa pa at nauubos ang shot clock natin dun..We need to trust every one as in may tiwala ako that anyone can make a basket & anyone can make a lot of damage sa kahit sino mang kalaban natin! TRUST ON YOUR SELF!

8. ROTATION & 1st FIVE- SOBRANG MALI as in WRONG DECISION MAKING ang ginawa ni coach Jerry Codiñera, on his 1st five, Dapat May twin towers tayo sa ilalim at tatlong shooters sa labas..The Best 1st Five is:

C-Javier
PF Duran/Noble
SF-Enguio
SG-Sumido
PG-Sumang

Note: I found the BEST LEGITIMATE BIGMAN natin na PAPALIT SA PWESTO NI ELMER ESPIRITU!
He is Christopher Javier! He have the height & he have the skills & speed to do a follow up shot/tip in, GREAT REBOUNDER & SCORER. Beside he's from San Beda w/c is known for d championship blooded guys.

Enguio is a streaky shooter, He can do a lot of damage from outside d arc

Noble & Duran-Lacking ability??Hook shot & low post..OK naman ang defense nila kulang lang sa low post.. I'm sure kung sila ang nasa 1st five,hindi tayo matatambakan sa 1st quarter!


9. POLITICS- I spoke to some ue players & gf of one of the players since season 73 & ramdam nila ang polotika w/c is killing the team, when Paul was there, may marinig pa ako na "si Lee na lang ang laging bida" winning shot or missed shot. Pag nanalo ang UE dahil sa drive or tres ni Lee e di masaya!Pero pag natalo ang UE dahil sa desperate shot or pass ni lee..Siya ang bida e..manalo,matalo sa kanya dapat pupunta ang bola A.K.A go to guy..

So we end up choosing another Paul as a captain this year BUT this time, It's Paul Zamar w/c is known for a back-up point guard..Silent guard si PaulZ..He cant do anything pag na double or triple team na sya ending up passing the ball or losing the ball for another turn over!

It's preety obvious na last year, sa mga narinig ko na puro nalang si Lee ang bida A.K.A- player of the game, this time PaulZ is TRYING to be or "TRYING HARD" tp be the best player of the game..That's a BIG NO-NO..The reason why coach jerry keeps on rotating his players bench is because gusto niya na si Paul Z ang bida..Obvious na obvious coz none of them got a double digit score except for Pau-Z..Guys ang AIM ng team ay MANALO at hindi magpabida..I HATE POLITICS!


The best GO TO GUY this season are Sumang & Javier, One of them should be the team captain, Coz Captain should lead the team in winning not just para lang magpasikat or mag-pa BIDA.



I'm looking forward for them to lead the WARRIORS this season, Sabi nga ni LEE, nung 1st round last year, Hindi pa nila alam ang ROLES nila nung 1st round pero nung 2nd round nalaman nila ang bawat roles nila para manalo ang team..

It takes the whole entire 1st round for the rookies to find them selves & to find their ROLES last year..I'm looking forward for them to find their roles early this season..dapat 1st round pa lang ng elimination, malaman na nila kung ano ang GAGAMPANAN nila at kung pano gamiting at strong side nila para manalo..

Ang mga kalaban,nilabas na ang kanya kanya nilang weakness at strong side on their debut game,si keifer zero points while si slaugther namayagpag..si parks din nangamote sa uste..si garcia nangamote sa 1st hafl pero bumawi sa 4rth quarter..kaya dapat di kau mahiyang tumira..score it when you feel it!

MALAKAS ANG UE!& I WANT INSTANT ADJUSTMENT next game since alam na natin ang laro ng bawat isa..konting polish lang yan mga brad!

pero ang panget talaga ng shooting natin
at oo tama observation mo halos lahat ng points ng UP eh ung mga 3pts shot iniiwanan lang natin ung mga shooter nila..

Yes one more thing..about the final 3 minutes of the game & 7 point lead ang kalaban & penalty na ang UP dapat puro drive na lang un since nagbibigay naman ng foul ung UP..dapat sinamantala na nila un para hinto oras at free throw!..at mali talaga ang pa relax relax lang na parang sila ang naghahabol..na shot clock violation tuloy..yung mga pasa pa OMG! kahit yata larong kalye maaagaw ang mga pasa na un!MALI ANG FIRST FIVE AT MALI ANG BALL MOVEMENT!
sa 1st half POOR DEFENSE tayo BUT on the 4th quarter we made some STOPS & we can give them a credit on that. Pero naku!Di pa nasanay sa FIL-OIL si jerry..papalit palit ng bench!OBVIOUS na gusto nya na ang bida sa score ay si PAUL Z! lahat below 10 points ang players..except paul z! hanep di maciado halata noh???

Sana isipin ni jerry na panalo ang importante hindi ung ibibida nia ang isang player para maendorso sa PBA.HAY NAKU!

90% ako agree sa sinabi mo iniacky, kaya lang di naman siguro tama na husgahan si coach jerry kung ibababad man niya si Paul Z for the PBA encdorsement ek ek... Paul is the team captain, and off course part yon ng responsibility niya,, kaya nga nagsikap din yung player na ipakita at gawin ang kaya niya.. ang problema lang talaga is si coach,. need pa talaga niyang mag coqaching clinic with coach Jawo and Boyzie,, kailangan malaman niya na sa actual UAAP game di pede yung puro palit... the whole game mina maximize niya talaga yung allowable substitution. pati last 7 seconds pinasok pa rin niya si soza, sana next game first five niya ay ang mga beterano na.. magpalit lang ng player kung nakikita na niyang pagod at foul trouble na.. kasi di pa nga nag iinit yung ipinasok may kapalit na agad.. panu makukuha ng player yung momentum niya..

So I suggest that the first five for next game (against UST)

Montelibano (bat nga ba di pinasok nung game 1 natin?)



Kudos sa Crowd ng UE, 80% opted to stay and sang the UE Hymn, di man tayo nanalo sa kalaban, panalo naman tayo sa Puso ng mga players kasi tuwang tuwa sila habang pinag mamasdan ang gallery during the singing of UE Hymn.. sa mga rookies magandang pang boost ng morale nila yon,. then sa mga beterano, na inspire natin sila for sure.. Keep it up UE Supporters and Good Job sa mga P.E Instructor, siguro ginawa nila na yung ticket kinolekta after the game na talaga kaya na obliga ang mga estudyante na mag stay.. ANG LAKAS LAKAS NG PAGKAKA KANTA NG UE HYMN, first time ko naranasan ang ganun, usually todo bigay sa pagkanta ng pamantasan hymn pag panalo lang tayo.. pero kahapon ibang iba.. Congrats pa rin.. and look forward for the upcoming games...

Kinikilabutan naman ako nung binabasa ko yung Last part ng pinost ni CarlJacob. Ang sarap malaman na 80% ng UE crowd ang nag stay at MALAKAS na kinanta ang UE HYMN kahit talo tayo. Good Job sa P.E. Department at sa mga UE supporters!


Dahil dyan mas gaganahan ang UE warriors next game kasi nakita nila hindi sila iniwan sa court kahit natalo tayo at Kinanta pa ang UE hymn ng buong puso at buoung sigla.

Yes, you read it right.. kaya nga sobrang emotional ako while singing the UE hymn kasi yung mga rookies lahat nakatingin sa buong gallery and when I looked back (nasa lower box kasi ako) di ako maka paniwala.. ang dami dami pa ring UE followers and as in dumagundong talaga yung pamantasan song.... gustong tumulo nang luha ko kasi di ako sanay sa ganung scenario, dati kahit nung game 1 nung finals natin against ateneo, halos gusto kong batukan lahat ng students ng UE kasi di pa tapos yung game nag aalisan na and much song nung kinakanta na ang UE Hymn tayong mga taga red tribe nalang halos ang nandun at kumakanta, and laging ganun ng ganun tuwing nattalo tayo pero ibang iba ang disiplina ng Crowd last thursday and I think this is the best way to develop the school spirit .. Keep it Up PE department.. and thank you very much realizing the importance of this gesture in motivating our players... :-)

Tapos nakatutuwa rin makitang medyo marami nag-stay at hindi iniwan ang warriors hanggang sa pag-awit ng hymn although may mga pasaway talaga na di pa tapos ang 4th quarter umaalis na.

needs din natin mag develop ng players na malakas sa tres kasi trademark natin yon eh.. sumusunod lang sa atin ang UST, so sayang naman kung pati yon mawawala sa atoin. p[ero rebounding kahit maliliit players natin buwakaw na din sa bola.. mukhang engot lang yung baluga ng UP kaya nilalamon ng maliliit nating rebounder.. Kudos kay Chris Javier nandun na yung maturity to think na game one pa lang yan.. so I expect more from him. and I also read comments earlier that sumang should be the captain ball, kung puwede nga lang y not, kasi he really communicates with his teammates during the game. yon ang kailangan, pero ok na din naman si Paul Zamar kasi yung leadership is nandun na din, communication nalang ang kailangang i practice para walang nasasayang na ball possession.

As long as hindi pa tapos ang first round, malalaman mo ang standings natin kung pasok sa final four ang team at around 8 games,after 8 games dyan mo malalaman kung tagilid ka na...

I've been a UE red warrior fan for over 5 years right now & as a UE alumni, BUO ANG LOOB ko na di tayo mapupunta sa very bottom this year coz mga brad, lets do the MATH: as i mentioned earlier the MAIN REASON why we loss becoz of TURN OVERS! We have QUITE good shot selections but then nahihiyang tumira ang iba..NO GUTS!NO GLORY! kung libre na itira na, nag iintayan sila, They have to "MOVE WITHOUT THE BALL", go for the screen, pick & pop & pick & roll!!

Sa CENTRO-Malaki ang EXPECTATION KO kay Javier, like what I said before, since na wla na si kenneth, Si javier na ang NUMERO UNO na susunod sa yapak ni elmer espiritu!Mahiyain lang e!Kung papairalin nya ung KILLER INSTINCT nya at ung tipong LALAMUNIN KITA NG BUHAY factor or GIGIL factor. Kaya nyang mamayagpag sa hardcourt!


Sa GWARDYA-I'm expecting Sumang will step up his game, EVERY GAME!kelangan nya lang uminom ng 1 litrong gedorade hahataw na yan at walang pagod na susugurin ang kalaban!

PANALO sa SHOOTING ABILITY si SUMANG but the BIG PROBLEM is ung IQ nya on passing the ball nakaka-EWAN! pinapasa sa kalaban lage bola!


about Lordie Casajeros, 3 point shooter sya & good perimiter jumper, so better put some screen or move witout d ball, PWEDENG PWEDE sya pumalit sa shooting ability ni PAUL LEE!

Sa NEGATIVE PAKTOR! Sumido shouldn't be on first five coz halatado sa muka nya ang kabado & he is not used to it & isa sya sa nagdamage ng OMG sa TURNOVERS NATIN..better to start with biboy for better ball handling!

And as you should know all guys, I recorded all UE's games on my DVR since then & as of this time,
Im watching my recorded video again & I noticed the attitude of coach jerry when UP made 2 consecutive 3 point shot's: No reaction?as in walang ka rea-react si jerry, kung si dindo un sisigaw na un at sasabihing igtingan ang depensa, wala man lang syang reminders an sinasabi why the boys are playing..dapat maidevelop nya ung reminders sa simulat sapul pa lang coz di na siya assistan coach ng UP, HEAD COACH na siya ng UE..

UE Statistics on 1st game,"ICHECHECK KO YAN!"

UE has 17 turnovers in the 1st half!!!
1st half-UE has 26 rebounds compared to UP 17

Zamar- 2 turnovers, both TO's are made becoz pinapasa nya sa shoes ng player ang bola!

Paulit ulit kong tinitingnan kung nasan sya sa defensive assignment but he always "CAUGHT NAPPING!!! Parang hindi gising..dapat wag nyang iiwan ung tao nya!parang high school sya magbantay ng tao nya..He is a great OFFENSIVE THREAT but DEFENSE WISE-HE IS WORSE!
1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Quarter Grabeng katamad magbantay nito..kung ako kalaban nya?with that kind of attitude? For sure tatambakan ko siya ng tres..sayang ang offense kung walang defense!

I encourage every UE supporter na ipakita natin sa lahat ng forum na binibisita natin na kahit mahina dahil rebuilding ang team, todo suporta padin tayo. Hindi man natin aanihin ang tagumpay ngayon dahil bata pa talaga ang UE MBT pero two or three years from now pag nagmature na ang mga players natin magbubunga din ang pagsuporta natin sa Warriors.

super emotional ako nung kinakanta ang UE Hymn. hindi ko napigilang umiyak, kasi after 5 years natalo tayo ng UP. natuwa ako sa UE Crowd kasi nag stay sila at kinanta ang UE hymn ng sabay sabay. goodluck sa game natin bukas. GO UE!

Well we can't be so brilliant coz sa uaap, weather weather lang yan, like when we still have elmer pari & rudy combination: tayo ang namamayagpag, but now adamson is solid with colina,alvarez, Nuyles & Cañada that would replace us on d final 4 slot. but sad to say final year na nila colina,alvarez, Nuyles & Cañada & weak na sila next season..mahina ang recruitment natin this year kaya di natin napirata si keifer & other imports like slaughter or Parks..but all we need is a lot of practice..sabi nga ni acibar: "bahay ko na ang tanduay gym" na dapat halos araw araw mag practice ka ng shooting para mas humusay ka..& maging consistent sa shooting..but our rookies are really lacking their defensive assignments.
Wala sa puso nila ung "PESKY DEFENSE" gaya ni raffy reyes na halos karate kid moves, SINDAK GULAT moves..wala as in wala..

DI ko alam kung anu ginagawang reminders or panghuhubog ang ginagawa nila: Pat Codiñera, Mark Manosca & Billy Reyes na mga assistant coaches..

And since na si raffy is staying with us not as a player but as a statistician, why might as well turuan nya ang mga bata lalo na sina chavez,sumang at Zosa. Sila ang mga PG na madalas nagbababa ng bola & they should know how to make quick plays NOT slowing down or running out the clock..SPECIALLY on how to take good care of the ball, DRIBLING & PASSING.

UST ang kalaban natin bukas, we lose Lordie Casajeros because of unsportsmanlike foul & automatic 1 game suspension sya bukas..

UE versus UST PRE_GAME analysis

Base on my observation from last year til this season, isa si chris camus sa maciadong physical maglaro, pesky defense & HYPER lage sa offense, rumaragasa ang drive & fastbreak,
Knowing na PF or SF position si camus, nagdadala sya ng bola from back court resulting to a fastbreak.

We need to overcome his energy..dapat natin mahigitan ang "harrasing defense" at rumaragasang offense ng tigers..Drink gedorade, Cobra & POWERDADE! para di lang tigre ang lakas natin, mala-Cobra Strike din ang dating!nyaha!

Kung makikita ko ang aggresiveness ng UE from the start pa lang ng 1st quarter til the end di malayong maipanalo natin ang 2nd game natin!!WAPAK!!


Gusto kong maIPASOK SA KOKOTE ni SUMANG ang defensive assignment nya, OVERALL, Si Sumang ang WEAKESS LINK last game coz He frequently lose his sight. Hindi na sya batang highschool, Welcome to the COLILGIATE baskelbol world!!

By watching the video on their 1st game, si Sumang ang responsible sa wide open shot ng kalaban, You won't believe na almost 15 points ang pinakawalan ng kalaban dahil nawawala sya sa binabantayan nya..

"Harrasing defense" Chavez & Sumang will be responsible to defend Fortuna & Teng, Veteran wise, malamang sa malamang, bubulihin at haharasin ng dalawang beterano ang dribling at passing ability ng dalawang bata, lalo na pag nag full court press/zone defense ang tigers..

Who will carry the game on his shoulder??I suggest si Zamar ang itapat kay Teng at please lang, Mark my word, hindi na pwepwede ang pa easy easy lang sa pagbantay coz both of these players are threat on both ends of the floor, outside & penetration move.

So far I'm not seeing Karim as an offensive threat, pang-ilang lang sya & defensive purpose lang.

Magandang Macth up ito para kay Javier, since na 3 out of 3 si Havier from the paint shooting 100% last game, with his good decision making, mental awareness, creating space & using his size to create his shot.ITS YOUR TIME TO SHINE!ITS SHOWTIME BRAD!!!

Camus can deliver a jump shot & drives so better watch out for that!Noble or Duran is a better macth up for him but we can also give a credit for Adrian Santos.
