Sayang game kahapon, kayang kaya eh. As always naisahan na naman tayo ng mga refs.

Ang tipid tumawag sa UE, ang daming sabit kay Batiller, Palma at Varilla eh..

yung backcourt violation na hindi tinawag, ung blocking foul kay batiller na ang tinawag ay out of bounds, yung double lane violation in favor of Ateneo during the Nieto fts. Tsk.

Ilang beses na tayo pinatay ni Pessumal last year at sa filoil di pa tayo nadala. Tsk.

The game again is very winnable. Wala lang talaga tayo center na matino.

ADMU over UE  77-72.

Everytime Pessumal plays against us, he always plays well -- this game was no different.We were outrebounded -- too many 2nd chance points. Doesn't help that our main scorer was in foul trouble most of the way and our offense was lost without him. It was just too deep of a hole to comeback to when the only one consistent in the game was surprisingly javier (17pts) -- batiller had 19 but he was not that impactful up until that rally in the 4th.

Still the boys didn't give up, fought back and made it a game -- they will learn from this. On to FEU

Positives.

1. Javier. hope he keeps it up scoring wise.

2. Mental Toughness - the boys rallied and showed heart to make it a game atleast

Negatives.

1. Vets. - Varilla had only 5 pts and his turnovers, De Leon 4 and Charcos 5. We wont win against the good teams if they play like they did.

2. Turnovers and Freethrows - can't state this enough. Let's hope this will not be a recurring theme throughout the season.

The UE Women's Basketball Team defeated the FEU Lady Tamaraws yesterday at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym.

The Lady Warriors waxed hot in the 2nd quarter to record a whopping 24-pt lead in a 26-4 tally.

Ano-os led the Lady Warriors with 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists while Chan flexed her muscles underneath the rim as she contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds, including 7-for-10 from the free-throw area.

Sto. Domingo meanwhile, hauled down a game-high 16 boards, as the 2-2 UE squad outrebounded FEU (0-4), 45-37 including 14-7 in the offensive glass.

I think Coach Derek should have shifted from full-court press to a zone defensein the fourth.

Why?

1. The Warriors were so damn tired entering the 4th period
2. The FEU shooting started to click, zone defense will provide a better coverage for FEU's perimeter shooters
3. It will provide a tighter interior defense. It will offset our lack of ceiling which the Tamaraws maximized yesterday. Belo and Tolomia were penetrating with ease.
4. The Tamaraws were able to beat the fullcourt press yesterday with Belo inbounding the ball then passing to the PG. When the trap comes in, the PG will just pass the ball back to Belo thus breaking the press easily. FEU have done this many times yesterday.

I am starting to feel that Coach Derek is a one-dimensional coach pagdating sa depensa. Di sya nag-aadjust ng game plan .Stick lang sya sa full-court press and player rotations.

Dapat pag nakikita mo na ineffective ang press dapat mag in-game adjutstments na. Kasi ang opposing teams mag-aadjust yan para kontrahin ang press mo.

Tough loss for the boys. We played them well in the first 3 quarters -- kept them at bay but this FEU team showed why they are the team to beat -- they are just too deep and experienced not to make a game out of it even when they are down with a big lead like that. They chipped away at the lead methodically, made their runs --- we tried to hold on but they just caught fire at the right time.

another learning experience for the boys. on to DLSU let's finish the first round strong.

Parang lasalle lang gumagawa ng kakaibang inboundpass na yun? Weird? Kanina kapag ginagawa nila yun yung chess move na castling naiisip ko. Pero kung pwde yun bakit lasalle lang gumagawa nun para makontra ang full court press natin after natin makapuntos? Weird? May nakakaalam ba ng rules na yun dito sa uaap rule book at hindi yun galing ng fiba. Huh? At btw ang hirap makakuha ng tawag satin ang daming obvious foul na ginagawa ng lasalle sa midcourt pero hndi tinatawag.
At wala tayo sa focus kanina puro taunting ang nangyari.

Hot-shooting Andrei Caracut helps La Salle Green Archers put away UE Warriors

ANDREI Caracut made 16 points as De La Salle claimed its second straight victory - a 71-64 win over University of the East on Sunday in the UAAP Season 78 men’s basketball tournament at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Caracut scored 11 points in the final period and presided over the Green Archers' breakaway with a personal seven-point swing which he started with a rare four-point play.

The rookie out of San Beda's scoring run gave the Green Archers a 17-point lead at 58-41, which proved more than enough to cushion a comeback by the Red Warriors.

Jeron Teng had 11 of his game-high 16 points in the first quarter for the Green Archers, who improved to 3-2.

“It’s a hard win,” said La Salle coach Juno Sauler. “UE kept battling at the very last minutes even though we had a double digit lead. But it’s a great effort for the boys, not giving up and playing until the final seconds."

Larry Muyang was also a revelation for La Salle, finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds for La Salle, which will play co-leader University of Santo Tomas on Wednesday.

Nick Abanto had 14 points while RR De Leon added 12 points for the Red Warriors, who only had two points from the team’s leading scorer Bon Batiller.

UE fell to 2-4.

Ginawa na nila yun once last yr dun sa crucial game nila sa atin.

Under FIBA rules pwede yun dapat after a made basket or a made free-throw..

Nakausap din namin si Coach Derek after the game pwede daw talaga yun. At under the weather daw si Batiller.

Sabi pa ng nanay nya gigil na gigil, grabe daw tawag ng mga refs sa atin, kahit sila halata nila.

At di bale daw next year, marami nang papasok na malalaki. Malamang yun na yung 2 Filam na sinasabi ni Asst Coach Palaganas.

University of Santo Tomas had it in the bag, before University of the East decided to take it away from them in the last moment.

Eunique Chan and Chery Ano-os joined hands to steer the Lady Warriors to a mighty fourth quarter comeback before Ruthlaine Tacula took charge in overtime as the Recto side stunned the Tigresses 75-65 Sunday in the UAAP Season 78 women’s basketball tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym.

Tacula opened fire in overtime, nailing back to back triples as she scored the first 8 points, giving UE a 72-64 advantage. The Tigresses then struggled to convert anything from the field as they succumbed in the extension.

Chan powered the Lady Warriors with a huge double-double performance consisting of 21 points and 13 rebounds, shooting 7-for-10 from the floor and 6-for-8 from the free throw line.

Tacula added 17 points while Ano-os once again had an all-around effort of 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.

UST took a 52-49 lead in the fourth quarter until UE stepped up defensively, clogging the lanes to go on a 12-2 run, taking a 61-54 lead.

Candice Magdaluyo ended the dry spell after hitting a trey, before back to back hits by Jhenn Angeles in between a Misaela Larosa field goal knotted the count at 64-all with 32.4 seconds left in regulation.

The Tigresses had a chance to win it after Chan lost control of the leather with only 23 seconds to go, but Angeles turned the ball over too in the ensuing play.

Fortunately for UST, Ano-os and Glozelle Bale misfired at the waning moments as game headed to extension.

Cortes led the Espana crew with 12 points and 11 boards although she went 5-for-15 from the floor. Angeles had 8 markers but struggled at 3-for-17, and also committed 6 turnovers.

Kita natin sa dlsu match na hindi talaga sapat na depensa lang talaga tayo aasa. Grabe ang dami nating attempt sa basket kulang 100 attempts yata?. Kulang talaga tayo sa offense. Point blank lay up nalang mintis pa. Sayang yung game kanina.

yep kaya sana kanina kinapos na naman mukang ito tlga yung theme ng season na ito.

It doesnt help na malamya parin laro ni batiller , too many point blank shots missed (naiiba yung tira nila kay muyang and the other dlsu bigs), and yung depensa natin kay bimby was really bad napagtripan mga guards natin kanina -- ang maayos lang si manalang, given na yung teng e pero yung kay torres inexcusable on our defense

Di ko gets yung inupo yung younger varilla and was never brought back in the game -- pang gulat lang sa simula mukang ok pa naman sana haha.

Sayang yung breakout game ni palma (dat slam tho) pero sana magtuloy tuloy na ganyang laro para may iba namang option on offense.

Ang consistent lang talaga sa atin ngayong season si Javier, sayang last playing year na nito. Si P.Varilla medyo ok na pero kulang parin.
