UAAP fencing kicks off on Friday
MANILA, Philippines – Fencing action in UAAP Season 74 will get going at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Friday, with competitions in boys’ and girls’ individual epee, foil and saber, as well as the team events kicking off.
The fencing competitions will run until Monday.
On Day 2 (Saturday), it will be in the boys’ and girls’ individual and team foil, epee and sabre, and women’s sabre.
The University of the Philippines (UP) is the defending champion in the men’s division, while the University of the East (UE) is the reigning titlist in the women’s and juniors categories.
UE has the most fencing championships in the UAAP with 7 in the men’s, 5 in the women’s and 1 in juniors.
UP has won the women’s crown 5 times, Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) was women’s champion in 2006, while University of Santo Tomas (UST) was back-to-back men’s champion in 2007 and 2008.
Far Eastern University (FEU) has won the men’s crown in 2004.

Kudos also to the UE Junior's Fencing Team. The Boy's Team won their back to back titles. And the Girl's team also emerged victorious.

UE bring home UAAP fencing crowns on all divisions

MANILA, Philippines—Powerhouse University of the East dominated the men’s and women’s divisions at the conclusion of the 75th UAAP fencing tournament at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Lady Warriors notched their sixth consecutive championship, while their men’s counterparts ended a three-year title drought for their league-leading eighth crown.
UE’s Justine Gail Tinio won the Most Valuable Player honors in the women’s division in only her first year, while 16-year old Nathaniel Perez was also named the men’s tournament’s top newcomer and MVP.
Perez gave the Red Warriors all of their four golds, which went along with three silvers and two bronze medals that helped edge Ateneo (2-0-0) and La Salle (0-2-2).
The Lady Warriors, meanwhile, collected four golds, two silvers and a bronze medal to clinch their seventh title overall.
The rare double sweep cemented the Red Warriors’ legacy as having the league’s most successful fencing program.
“Ngayon season, sinigurado namin (na ma-i-sweep namin) kaya binantayan namin, nag-training kami (This season, we made sure we sweep that’s why we we’re on guard, we trained),” said coach Ronaldo Canlas.
University of Santo Tomas (1-1-2), meanwhile, ended up as the runner up in the women’s meet, then La Salle (1-2-0), settled for the third spot.
The erstwhile defending champion Growling Tigers missed the podium, ending up with just one silver and one bronze medal.

Galing talaga! Di mapipirata sa atin yan, dedicated talaga sa ue si coach, may program sya na grade school pa lang sa atin nag-training na, meron sa youtube yun di ko lang makita.
